On SmackDown, Tamina, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka, channeled her inner "Superfly" by hitting not only the Samoan Drop on WWE's first-ever third-generation Diva Natalya, but coming off the top rope with the "Superfly" splash. With two such legendary lineages in the ring, it's easy to see why family pride is on the line in these battles.
Tamina's father, WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, revolutionized the way the WWE Universe sees sports-entertainment today. His aerial abilities and charisma made him one of the most popular Superstars to ever set foot in the ring - and jump high above it. In one of the most talked about moments in WWE history, Snuka leapt off the top of a 15-foot steel cage at Madison Square Garden. To this day, our fans' jaws still drop looking at the footage.
Sifting through the archives of the incredible collection of matches at WWEGreatestMatches.com, Tamina has taken a page out of her dad's book. As she stood on the top rope, arms outstretched toward the sky, one couldn't help but think of her father and his career spanning nearly four decades. As she landed a picture-perfect "Superfly" Splash on the canvas below, it became increasingly evident that the passion of her patriarch courses through her veins.
Former Divas Champion Natalya, daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart of Hart Foundation fame, has always shown pride in the rich history of her family's sports-entertainment lineage. She dons the pink and black, and is as tough as they come in the ring - reminiscent of her dad. Neidhart was a former WWE Tag Team Champion, and also graduated from the dangerous Hart Dungeon. Natalya herself is the only Diva tough enough to train and graduate from the heralded school.
Though known primarily for his strength and agility in the ring, "The Anvil" had finesse and the skills of a world class athlete. Watching the DVD anthology "Hart and Soul," it's apparent the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Natalya's mannerisms in the ring - from power and speed - to her facial expressions during a match bear an uncanny resemblance to her father. Two "tanks" in the ring - strong and stubborn, Natalya emulates the Hart family's dedication and passion within the squared circle.
So whether you're #TeamNatalya or #TeamTamina, one thing is for certain: there is no denying the impressive lineage the Snuka and Hart families have brought to the ring. But what makes this extraordinary? The fact they are both women carrying on the legacy.
